Newsletter 15-july-2015 Radiation Video
This subject is in and out of the news but never far away – its Radiation.
In this Natural Dentistry Health News Update we interview Arnie and Maggie Gundersen of Fairewinds, a tax exempt educational organization generating reports and providing expert witnesses to inform the public on nuclear power plant operations and safety risks.
What is Radiation?
Radiation is the emission of energy as electromagnetic waves – moving subatomic particles that cause substances in their path to change their structure and become “charged” as they have gained or lost electrons.
Radiation occurs naturally as sunlight and is man-made for use in X-rays, nuclear weapons, power plants and in medicine as a cancer treatment.
In our office we use X-rays but reduce the radiation exposure 80 to 90% with the use of digital x-rays.
A high volume of radiation over a short period of time can cause radiation sickness and even change cellular structure.
We are experiencing a worldwide increase in radiation levels generated by the meltdown of the nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan. On March 11th in 2011 a giant tsunami hit the western shores of Japan destroying three nuclear power plants allowing a release of airborne radiation particles and contaminated water into the sea.
What are the health consequences? Where is the radiation now? How should we use radiation in the future?
Listen and watch this interview. Education on this subject is of importance in maintaining a good level of health.
