Prevent tooth decay, repair damage with safe and stunning dental fillings materials in Clearwater, FL.
Modern dentistry has at its fingertips all sorts of dental materials to rebuild a portion of an entire tooth (from the “root up”). However, these materials are not created equally. Some conventional materials, such as amalgams, contain substances that may damage the mouth and the rest of the body. These fillings are “silver” in hue only; they have at least 50 percent mercury – a known toxin. Additionally, our approach at Natural Dentistry in Clearwater, FL, is to support wellness. So, Dr. Beata A. Carlson and Associates work closely with patients to prevent tooth decay and the need for dental filling materials.
Do not treat; prevent, and maintain (health)!
We at Natural Dentistry have shattered the confines of conventional dentistry. We offer all kinds of products and therapies that you cannot find at many other dentists’ offices in the Tampa Bay area and elsewhere. These approaches protect your good health, and they do so in a safe manner without presenting additional risks to your oral and systemic wellbeing. They generally avoid the dangers and sources of dental fear associated with traditional, invasive dental treatments that use drills and scalpels to cut and remove tissues. Such technologies, products, and materials also preserve maximum tooth structure. So, they are minimally invasive and conservative, too. Preservation of natural tooth structure facilitates the long-term structural integrity of altered or treated teeth.
Here, we provide a sample of some of the ways that we safely protect teeth and gums from the decay and disease that are the primary causes of tooth loss:
- Ozone, a natural disinfecting and healing powerhouse
- Advanced Air-FLOW method for quick, painless removal of plaque, tartar, and stains
- Laser-Assisted dentistry, non-surgical restoration of periodontal health
- Advanced neuromuscular dentistry, which supports a better bite and reduces the stress that is unevenly and excessively placed on teeth, jaw joints, and interrelated oral structures
Filling material matters
If a portion of your tooth must be replaced to treat decay such as cavities, we at Natural Dentistry use non-toxic, non-metallic materials. These materials look and feel like natural tooth structure. They are also built to withstand the pressures placed on them. So, they are durable, like natural teeth! We use layers of composite resin to “fill in” the hole or decayed area for cavity treatment. The composite is applied to preserve natural structure and only eliminates the specific damaged areas. When the tooth is altered minimally, the risks of breakage or other damage that shortens its lifespan are also minimized.
As with other non-metal materials, composite is “tissue-friendly,” and is appropriate for patients with sensitivities to materials such as metal alloys. Moreover, they are not made from harmful substances such as mercury. Amalgams that contain mercury are released every time you chew or otherwise use your teeth. Mercury exposure is associated with more than 200 medical conditions. Mercury released as particulates and vapor during removing silver fillings is such a concern that the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology established its SMART guidelines. We abide by these guidelines, including the use of protective eyewear, coverings, equipment, and other products to reduce the risk of exposure to the patient, our staff, and the planet.
We also place Zirconia (metal-free) dental implants instead of implants made from titanium. To find out more about our healthy approaches to maintaining your teeth and repairing damage, we encourage you to call us and schedule an appointment at our Clearwater office.
