Newsletter – 21 November 2015 – Arnell Burghorn Interview

Here at Natural Dentistry, we consider our mission to be more than patching up holes, infection management, and removal and replacement of teeth beyond repair. It is more than creating a confident and pleasant appearance.

All these ARE important and certainly nothing is gained by allowing further deterioration, but with a broader focus on improving patient health, dentistry evolves to a higher plane! It is now clear through medical research that the conditions in the mouth directly relate to and can negatively affect optimum overall body health.

Without taking into account the whole body perspective, the dental diagnosis and traditional dental treatment often falls short of improving health and may even be injurious or toxic to the body.

Natural Dentistry is better stated as Health Dentistry. To communicate exactly what we are talking about, (which is often quite necessary!) we developed this Health Formula.

Good Structure + Good Nutrition – Toxicity = Physical Health.

This formula is useful as a guide to regaining health or to never losing it and is applicable to the oral cavity as well as the other parts and systems in the body.

Structure

The overall body structure and jaw structure are interrelated and any misalignment anywhere can restrict circulation of blood, nerve and lymph flows decreasing tissue and bone health. Misaligned structure also increases bone friction and uneven joint wear.

Good teeth, jaw and whole body structural alignment provides optimum motion. We found Neuromuscular Massage Therapy as a way to regain good structure and have developed a working relationship which is part and parcel of our suggested dental treatment plans for many people. Structure, as a basic, is often overlooked as part of health, to the detriment of many people.

Toxicity

Biological or Natural Dentistry is known for its opposition to toxic mercury in filing material and warns against root canals as the procedure completely removes the nerve, leaving a dead tooth – an ideal environment for a bad anaerobic bacteria breeding ground. Secretions from the dead tooth dwellers can be very toxic to the body, locally and generally as they easily migrate to other locations.

The inflammation around such infectious material is a secondary problem as it restricts blood and nutrient flow to the tissue and bone around the area contributing to a conditions called IBD or Ischemic Bone Disease. Ischemic means constriction. There is something present that reduces nutrition and blood flow which deteriorate the marrow to a point of a cavitation or hollow marrow space, another area for bacteria to gain a foothold and multiply.

Good Nutrition

Nutrition has to be separated from the concept of eating. At one point in our earlier history they were synonymous but certainly not today. In many to most cases nutrition and food are at the opposite ends of the health spectrum. Nutrition is the process of providing food necessary for body growth and health. Whereas “food” has become something that ships easily, can be constructed with cheaper synthetic chemicals, and lasts forever on the shelf, none of which meet the definition of nutrition!

The mouth is a direct reflection of one’s habitual weekly food supply- how close or far away it is from nutrition.

All of this preamble on the Formula is leading up to this month’s Health Professional Interview with Arnell Burghorn. Sometimes the battle over who’s diet is the best drives people away from improvement, but Arnell delivers underlying basic information that is startling in many ways and opens the door for anyone to improve their real nutrition.

This is worth implementing!

Dr. Beata A. Carlson

A graduate from the University of Maryland, Dr. Beata A. Carlson, is an established professional in dentistry. She is a firm believer in taking on a holistic approach to treating her patients’ dental concerns. It entails a general awareness of the body. It caters to the overall well-being of the patient using natural, biocompatible, and mercury-free dentistry methods instead of ‘spot treatment,’ where solutions are obtained to fix the temporary/surface wound instead of the underlying issue.

This approach promotes healthy living and proper oral care practice for day to day life. Dr. Beata A. Carlson insists on educating her patients on how to engage in such methods to help them achieve a better quality of life.

She invests both time and resources in the latest and most advanced technology to aid in diagnostics and treatment plans for her patients while maintaining a comfortable and relaxing environment.
